As one of the hottest topics in the world of business, it is a proven fact that Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is more important than Cognitive Intelligence (IQ) in leading a successful business life. When I first picked up a copy of this book, I thought I was going to finish the book quickly, write the review and then put it away. I didn’t realize that the contents of the book will make me get a pencil and underline bits and pieces throughout the book and read a few sections few times over.
The authors of ‘Emotional Intelligence 2.0’ claim that emotional intelligence has two elements: Personal Competence and Social Competence, and that each has two sub-elements which make up what EQ is all about.
While reading this book, at many instances, I was led to think that most of what I was ready is fairly common in daily life so why is it that people generally do not have high EQs? Different sections of the book explained the answer to this question and there are results of years of research done on EQ over the last decade. The book also comes with a code which can be used to go online onto the website of the book and complete the world’s most comprehensive EQ test called ‘The Emotional Intelligence Appraisal’.
Recommendation: Managers at all levels.
